Students can buy and sell online

A WEBSITE which will save students across the country vital pennies has been launched by savvy students at Bristol University.

Collegestall.com has been devised as a student marketplace where they can buy and sell various items, find house-shares and learn about new employment opportunities during their study.

Founders Mohammad Khan, 20 of Hotwells, and Tommy Adey, 19, who lives in the city centre got their idea off the ground last October.

Now the aeronautical engineering students have 6,000 registered users at universities across the country.

The website has similar features to both Gumtree and eBay, with more than 3,500 listings of items ranging from text books and bicycles to computer equipment.

CollegeStall has been supported by Basecamp, the university's student start-up support service, which has nurtured the website's marketing strategy and helped it grow.

The next stage is incorporating student deals and discounts to further help save money.

Tommy, 19, said: "We've now got 6,000 registered users and 3,500 listings, which is a great start.

"We see it as being a useful website for students up and down the country because it can help them save money in a variety of ways and also facilitate other aspects of university life such as finding housing and part-time work."

Machida, Jackson or wait: What to do with Dan Henderson?

Dan Henderson appears to be a man with a world of options. Comfortable at both light heavyweight and middleweight, his winning streak and credentials in both Strikeforce and the UFC qualify him for a title shot. After his epic bout with Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, Henderson said he wanted to try for a title at whatever weight is first.

[Related: Y! Sports pound-for-pound rankings]

Unfortunately for Henderson, the light heavyweight belt will be contested in April, and the middleweight belt is up for grabs in June. He is involved in neither fight. The UFC's solution was to offer him Lyoto Machida, a former champ who most recently lost to Jon Jones in December.

"He doesn't want to fight Machida," [UFC president Dana] White said following Wednesday's UFC on FUEL event. "He doesn't want to wait. He's going to have to wait. Who does he want to fight? I don't know what to do with Dan. Dan's either going to have to wait for Jones or wait for Silva. Or fight somebody else."

Except, Henderson says he was never offered that bout. Via his Twitter account, Henderson disputed White's words.

Was never offered Machida. And even though he has lost 3 out of his last 4, I'm sure it would be entertaining.

Who to believe between the two? Though, as Henderson says, a bout with Machida could be interesting for fans to watch, it doesn't make any sense for Henderson. Dating back to when he held the belt, Machida has losses to Rua, Jones, and Quinton Jackson. His one win was over a retiring Randy Couture.

[Video: Watch Jon Jones get attacked by a police dog]

A win over Machida would get Henderson no closer to the title shot. MMA Fighting's Mike Chiappetta suggests that Henderson takes on the winner of next week's bout between Ryan Bader and Jackson. Though a win over Jackson would avenge a loss on Henderson's record, it could also jeopardize a chance to win a belt off Silva or Jones.

As much as it pains Henderson to sit idle, his best bet is to wait. What would you do in Henderson's shoes? Tell us in the comments or on Facebook.

Mandela 'healthy and happy' at hospital

By Nkepile Mabuse, CNN

South Africans show support for Mandela
STORY HIGHLIGHTS
  • South Africa says he is undergoing treatment for an abdominal ailment
  • The 93-year-old will likely be discharged by Monday, a relative says
  • The former president last appeared in public in 2010

Johannesburg (CNN) -- Nelson Mandela looked "healthy and happy" Sunday, a day after officials said the ailing anti-apartheid icon underwent treatment for an abdominal ailment at a South African hospital.

Mandela underwent a diagnostic laparoscopy, defense minister Lindiwe Sisulu said Sunday without elaborating. The procedure involves inserting a camera into the body to allow doctors a look in a patient's abdomen or pelvis.

A family member had said Saturday that Mandela had hernia surgery, but a government spokesman described it as a "planned procedure" without providing details.

The 93-year-old will likely be discharged by Monday, a Mandela relative told CNN. Officials and family declined to name the hospital where he was reuperating.

South African President Jacob Zuma said Mandela is conscious and recovering.

Mandela undergoes hernia surgery

"The doctors are satisfied with his condition, which they say is consistent with his age," Zuma said in a statement Saturday afternoon.

Considered the founding father of South Africa's democracy, Mandela became an international figure when he was imprisoned for 27 years for fighting racial segregation.

He was freed in 1990, and three years later, he won the Nobel Peace Prize. In 1994, Mandela was elected president and served one term as he had promised.

Mandela last appeared in public in the closing ceremonies of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

He was hospitalized last year for treatment of an acute respiratory infection, and continued to receive treatment at home after doctors discharged him.

Despite his rare appearances, Mandela retains his popularity and is considered a hero of democracy.

Mandela relocated to his childhood town of Qunu last year, but moved back to his Johannesburg home earlier this year.

At the time, Zuma said the move was because the home in his boyhood town was undergoing maintenance.

CNN's Kim Norgaard contributed to this report.

Teenager growing drugs worth £13,000

POLICE discovered a sophisticated cannabis factory at the home of a teenager who they had caught snorting cocaine in the city centre.

Stevey Taylor, 19, was seen taking cocaine in St Augustine's Parade on October 22 and as a result officers searched his home in Totterdown.

On arrival they found a majority of the property was being used to grow cannabis which was estimated at being worth more than £13,000.

Taylor, of William Street, pleaded guilty to possession of ecstasy and to a charge of producing cannabis.

May Li, prosecuting, said that when police stopped Taylor he had tried to throw away four small bags containing white powder, but the officers saw him do so and picked them up.

"At the address police officers found an envelope containing £310 in cash and found that bedrooms one and two in the property were being used as cannabis factories.

"There were 30 plants being grown using very sophisticated equipment. In interview he said the ecstasy found on him was for personal use and that he smoked about one eighth of cannabis daily.

"The value of the crop found at his home was estimated at being in the region of £13,400."

Sarah Turland, defending, said her client had told police the drugs were for personal use but accepted they may want a judge at crown court to deal with the case.

Taylor was released on unconditional bail and will have a pre-sentence report before appearing at Bristol Crown Court on March 15.
