MORE men are needed to join a Downend-based choir and bring more balance to performances.
There are some 40 members of the Cleeve Singers, but only a quarter are tenors and basses.
The choristers, who meet on Wednesday nights in Downend Folk House, want to even up the numbers and hope to persuade more men to join the choir, which has been established for 25 years.
Spokesman Graham Walker said: "The music we sing avoids the latest pop and the heavy classical pieces and its variety is always appreciated by our audiences.
"While it would be great to welcome men with experience of singing in choirs, we are happy to help anyone who feels that he would like to give it a try. Most members started in this way and there is plenty of help given to all those who join us.
"Choral singing is a team activity that provides a genuine sense of achievement.
"Until someone tries it, they can't realise how good it feels. Our conductor, Jonathan Edwardes, is one of our greatest assets – it's a joy to rehearse with him."
The choir gives a number of concerts during the year, including two carol concerts at Christmas and one in July, as well as performing for clubs, residential homes and in churches.
