SCHOOLCHILDREN at a primary school in Bristol have marked a week of fundraising with a coin trail around the playground.
The children, from Barrs Court Primary in Longwell Green, donated their coins as they raised money for fellow pupil Abigail Brown.
Abigail, 10, suffers from cystic fibrosis and is in need of a new £7,000 physiotherapy vest for her treatment, which is not available from the NHS.
Her school is raising money with events all week and is being joined by a handful of other keen fundraising organisations to help Abigail.
Among the fundraisers are the Bitton Road-Runners and the Jolly Cobler pub which has held a fun day already.
The determination and pledges from everyone has thrilled Abigail's mother, Amanda Carter, who feels humbled by the efforts.
"I have to say, I'm pretty impressed, I just can't believe the lengths people are going to for my daughter," she said.
"We thought it would take a few years to reach our target but we are hoping to get there by the end of this year now.
"We are so pleased and we value every contribution to the cause."
The children at Barrs Court Primary spelt out "Abbie's Charity Week" and drew a giant flower on the playground with all the loose change brought in to donate.
Cystic fibrosis is an inherited disease that clogs up internal organs, making it hard to breathe and digest food.
