Bristol pervert in park loses binoculars but avoids prison

A handy man who was spotted carrying out a sexual act in his car while spying on a park through binoculars has been spared immediate prison.

Christopher Parr, 56, was naked from the waist down as he sat in his red Toyota, with the door open, while children played in St George's Park in Bristol.

Prosecuting at Bristol Magistrates' Court, May Li said a woman on a lunch break was walking along Park Crescent on August 5 when she noticed Parr opposite the park.

He appeared to be spying on a tennis court where boys and girls of about ten years old were playing and made no effort to cover himself up.

The shocked witness took his car registration and informed the park wardens before returning to work.

Police tracked him down to his then home in Redfield and knocked on the door. They found child pornography on his computer.

Magistrates imposed a 16-week prison sentence, suspended for two years. Parr is also banned from unsupervised contact with children under 16 and he has had his access to the internet restricted and must not use it to contact anyone known or believed to be under 16. Parr will be on the Sex Offenders' Register for seven years, had his computer equipment confiscated.
